SERVICES FOR CHILDREN BES

Who is a chatter?

The chatter is a teenager/young adult with special educational needs (intellectual disability, mild or moderate intellectual functioning limit, autism level 1, or other emotional problems or behavioral) that, after a professionalizing course, can chat functionally with an elderly and alone.

The chatter is a motivated young person with a predisposition to social relationships and the desire to feel involved and valuable to the community

What does a chatter?

The chatter is a professional figure who works daily to bring moments of positive socialization to the home of the elderly or in sheltered structures through the Del + Del- (Small Talks) application.

The chatter rose from an initial phase in which all interactions with the elderly will occur under the supervision of a mental health professional until you get to interact independently.

To become a chatter?

After the presentation, the first meeting will be set up in which the psychologist will conduct the competence assessment. The competence assessment will mainly investigate the level of mastery of the following soft skills:

  1. Autonomy
  2. Self-confidence
  3. Ability to adapt to the organization and the working environment.
  4. Resistance to stress
  5. Ability to plan and organize
  6. Accuracy/Attention to detail
  7. Ability to achieve goals
  8. Know how to manage the information
  9. Be resourceful, and have the spirit of initiative
  10. Communication skills
  11. Problem solving
  12. Team work

Upon assessment, each child is placed on a vocational training path leading to greater autonomy and improvement in areas where they need improvement.

The course's duration and intensity depend on each child's skills. The training is done with evidence-based methods, through teaching 1:1 and through modes of technology (for example, learning machines and avatars that leverage IA algorithms ).

Our chatter

Francesco

I was born in Piacenza, have 18 years old, and attended a scientific high school in my city. I love the game of cards, especially doing magic tricks. I also like sports, in particular football and swimming. I am a nice, polite, and friendly guy. The only flaw I think I have is a bit stubborn. I liked the project from the beginning, particularly having the ability to chat and share my passions with an older person. In my view, the most challenging aspects of the project are being able to speak in public and finding the homes of the elderly. I hope to learn skills from this project that will be useful for my future work.

Matthew

I've been swimming for many years, and it's a sport that I love and gives me many emotions. I consider myself a nice guy, funny, sweet at times, yet a bit touchy. My favorite aspect of the project is being able to involve older people in my life and also help them in the more practical aspects.

If I think about the project, meeting older people with a character very different from mine and being punctual are the two things that scare me the most. I am sure this project will help me acquire skills that will help me in future jobs.

Jacopo

My name is Jacopo. I'm 13 years old, and I was born in Carpi on 23/03/2006, but now I live in San Biagio with my family.
My dad is called Julian, my mother is Sarah, and my little sister is Camillia.
I'm a friendly and fun guy who loves to play football and travel, So I scored many goals and have visited many countries.
I prefer to talk about Calcium, Geography, and Music.
Like everyone, I also have some flaws, such as the fact that I can't eat lactose, and sometimes I complain and do things in a hurry.
I like Ciciarapp because I will be able to play with the older man, and learn to talk well.

Mattia

I'm Mattia, 21 years old. I was born in Correggio, and I'm living in Nottingham. I work as an assistant chef in a preschool.
My family consists of my mother, Barbara, my father, Christian, and my sister Giulia.
I'm a nice guy, handsome and precise. Perhaps, my fault is that sometimes I get nervous a little bit.
I like this project because I will be able to chat with the elderly, maybe it will be a little difficult to speak of our private things, but surely I will make new friends!

Mark

I'm Mark, 21 years old, and I live in Fiorenzuola D'arda, in the province of Piacenza.
The things I enjoy doing are going out with friends, using the telephone, and watching television. Another thing that I like to do is travel. I am a friendly and kind guy. I like to have new experiences and meet new people. The project Del+ Del- (Small Talks) interests me because it is a time when being able to help the elderly, who need to socialize more than others.
I think the project will help me to socialize with new people who need a little bit of our time.
